On the last weekend of July, Fair Seas had the incredible opportunity to take part in the Eco-Action Village at Billie Eilish’s sold-out concerts in the 3Arena, Dublin. A powerful event where music and environmental advocacy came together to inspire change.
As part of her Hit Me Hard and Soft World Tour, Billie Eilish has partnered with REVERB to reduce the environmental impact of her shows while spotlighting local climate and conservation campaigns. Through the Eco-Action Village, concertgoers were encouraged to explore sustainability initiatives and meet with organisations making a difference in their communities.
Fair Seas was proud to be invited by Planet Reimagined to represent marine conservation efforts in Ireland. We had the chance to connect with hundreds of enthusiastic young fans who were curious, engaged and eager to take action for the ocean. Together with our campaign partners, including the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, we shared stories of Ireland’s incredible marine wildlife, the importance of healthy seas, and the urgent need to expand and strengthen Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) across Irish waters.
Our team had meaningful conversations about the threats facing Ireland’s marine environment from overfishing to pollution and climate change. We highlighted how strong MPAs can serve as a nature-based solution for protecting biodiversity and supporting coastal communities.
The energy and interest from the crowd was electric. Many fans stayed long after their first questions to dive deeper into the campaign and sign our MPA petition. The petition now has calls on the Irish government to designate and properly manage at least 30% of Ireland’s seas as MPAs by 2030.
This event was about more than just outreach, it was a reminder that youth activism is alive and thriving, and that cultural spaces like concerts can be powerful platforms for environmental action. We are grateful to REVERB and Planet Reimagined for creating space for grassroots campaigns like Fair Seas to amplify their message at such a high-profile and meaningful event.
