Regina Classen is the Marine Policy and Research Officer with the Irish Wildlife Trust and co-author of the ‘Fair Seas’ report, ‘Revitalising Our Seas’.
Regina joins Johnathon Mcrea on Newstalk’s Futureproof, to explain a little bit about what Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are and how they might look in Ireland.
Some of the questions they cover include:
- What does ‘Marine Protected Area’ actually mean?
- What human activities might be restricted?
- What government department will be in charge of MPAs?
- How do we manage MPAs in areas where commercial fishing takes place?

Our thanks to Jonathon for having us on the show.
